The STARS came into their own, with a swim meet and awards for their achievements

This past weekend some very special STARS athletes swam to compete with eachother, overcome personal obstacles, and be awarded for their best efforts.

On June 27 At Avon Park High School the swimming competition took place, much to the delight of the anxious athletes. More than 40 athletes competed in aquacize, lap competitions and noodle races – there were various levels of competition so each participant could compete according to their abilities. And they didn’t let their nerves or special circumstances hold them back; swimmers, even those with cerebral palsy, found magic in the water and came out winners. After the meet the competitors were treated to a light lunch before the awards ceremony.

At the 2009 MTV Movie awards there were numerous golden popcorn statues to hand out, and the vampires of ‘Twilight’ got the lions’ share.

The ‘Twilight’ stars and directors took home the ‘best’ trophies in multiple categories including: movie, female performance, kiss, fight sequence and male breakthrough performance. Fans of the book and movie everywhere are no doubt anticipating the next movie in the series, ‘New Moon’, which may be an even bigger winner at next year’s awards show.

Memorial Day weekend turns into quite the memorable and wet occasion in Georgia. This year the 17th Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Championships and the 50th anniversary of the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament will start on Friday and end on Sunday with an awards ceremony, beach olympics, fireworks and classic comedy (go Goonies!)

One of the world’s most prestigious watersports tournaments, only the most elite athletes compete in the Masters. Over $110,000 in prize money, championship rings, watersport trophies, and special event awards will be handed out to the winners.
