Now is the time to get your imaginations running. Fantasy football season has begun and players are being picked to see if they can lead their team this football season. The better your players do on the field, the better your fantasy team will do. Everyone was excited for the awards presentation for the Whiteley Village annual dog show. Some of the categories that awards were given out for were best sausage catcher, dogs who resemble their owners, dogs in fancy dress, glamorous female pooches and most macho males.

While the event had a good turn out and was fun, the contestants were still upset over the stolen trophy. The organizer, Mrs. Driscoll, of the event said, “It is upsetting that someone walked off with it. If it did jump into someone’s car, I would be grateful if they could return it. Other than that the show went well and we had a great response.”

Pinewood Derby: A Boyscout Pastime

Pinewood Derby Awards

Of course Pinewood Derby is a fun and exciting sport, but there is a lot of work that goes into the making of pinewood derby cars as well as pinewood derby races.  Pinewood derby cars are made out of pinewood, of course, plastic wheels and metal axles.

The first Pinewood Derby was held in May 1953 in Manhattan Beach, California. A cubmaster’s son was too young to participate in the popular races, so he encouraged him to race with little wooden cars. The track consists usually of six lanes that slope down to the ground since the cars are only powered by gravity.

Usually after the race is over, awards are presented to the first, second, and third place winners. Awards can include ribbons, medals, and of course trophies from Crown Awards & Trophies, the official supplier for Boy Scout Pinewood Derby Awards.

With only 4 hours left to vote for the latest “Best” winner, New Yorkers are leaning towards 230 Fifth as the winner of ‘Best Rooftop Bar’ ~ and claiming their golden trophy, Mike, the world’s first human trophy… at least until he has to grab a slice or use the bathroom.

With 76% of the vote already, looks like 230 Fifth will top competing bar Hudson Sky Terrace for the award.
